Assignments + grading workflow
Post an assignment from a lesson, from a course, or from a live session. Submissions land in /dashboard/assignments. Grade in a side panel with a rubric, AI-drafted feedback, a fast Save & Next queue, and one-click reminders.

Three scopes
- Lesson-linked — shown as a 'follow-up' under the lesson.
- Session-linked — attached to a live class; shown in past-class recap.
- Course-level — surfaces in the course's Assignments & Projects tab.
Add a rubric (optional)
When you create an assignment, add a grading rubric — one criterion per line (e.g. 'Correct approach (40%)', 'Working deliverable (40%)', 'Clarity (20%)'). It's private to you: students never see it. It appears on your grading panel so you mark consistently, and it feeds the AI feedback drafter below so suggestions are scored against your actual criteria.
Submission
Learners submit a link or upload + optional notes. The public share token means a student can submit without being signed in (useful for legacy invites).
Grading
Open a submission → score + feedback + status (graded). The learner gets notified by in-app + email; their lesson auto-marks complete when the assignment is graded above passing.
Draft feedback with AI
Click 'Draft feedback' on the grading panel and we write a specific, ready-to-edit comment from the brief, your rubric, the student's submission, and the score you just entered. You always review and edit before publishing — it just removes the blank-box tax on the most repetitive part of grading. Requires an AI plan.
Grade a batch fast
- 'Save & next' publishes the current grade and jumps straight to the next ungraded submission — no returning to the roster between students.
- Keyboard: press ⌘/Ctrl+Enter from the score or feedback field to save and advance.
Remind non-submitters
The 'Remind N non-submitters' button sends an in-app + email nudge to exactly the enrolled students who haven't submitted yet. It confirms the count first, and the reminder deep-links the student to the work. (Quizzes have the same thing for students who haven't attempted.)
Export to CSV
'Export CSV' downloads an Excel-ready gradebook — one row per student with status, submitted time, score, and feedback. Quiz screens export attempts with score, pass/fail, and time taken.
