Map a teacher to a course: owner, co-instructors & per-module owners

A course has one primary owner, optional co-instructors who build and grade alongside them, and an optional separate owner for each module. Here's how to wire up who teaches what.

First, the people have to exist. Invite teachers under /dashboard/faculty (the 'Instructors' page) — 'Add faculty', set name/email/role. They get an email to set a password. Only then can you assign them to a course.

Primary owner

Every course has one primary instructor — the headline teacher. They're shown in the course hero and they sign the certificate. This is the course's main owner.

Co-instructors

Open the course → Edit → Curriculum tab. Above the curriculum is a 'Co-instructors' card: 'Additional teachers who can build and grade alongside the primary owner. Tap a name to add or remove.' Tap a faculty member's pill to add them; tap again to remove. They get edit + grading access to the course.

The co-instructors card and the per-module owner picker only appear when your workspace has 2+ faculty. A solo workspace doesn't see the extra controls.

Per-module owner

Inside each module (Curriculum tab) there's a 'Module owner (optional)' dropdown. Leave it on 'Inherit from course owner', or pick a specific faculty member to override — so Module 1 can be taught by one teacher and Module 2 by another. Set this after you've added them as co-instructors.

Quick recipe

  • Invite the teachers under /dashboard/faculty.
  • Open the course → Edit → Curriculum.
  • Tap their names in the Co-instructors card to add them.
  • Inside each module, set 'Module owner' if you want to split the syllabus.
  • Publish your changes.
