How the raised-hand queue works

Students signal a question without unmuting. Host sees a queue ordered by raise time with a one-click Answer button and a 'Live #N' badge.

Last updated May 21, 2026

Student side

In the live call, students tap the raised-hand icon in the bottom bar. Their hand goes up immediately — others in the room see a small ✋ over their tile. They can lower it any time, or the host can clear it after answering.

Host queue

The host's right-rail Hands panel shows everyone who's raised, ordered by raise time (oldest first). Each row has the student name, how long their hand has been up, and an Answer button. Click Answer to clear them from the queue and signal you're addressing them now.

  • Order by raise time — fair-first-in-first-out.
  • Live #N badge on the panel so you see backlog depth at a glance.
  • Persists across host reconnects — the queue lives on the data channel, not the host browser.
  • Auto-clears when the room ends.
Hands are scoped to the current session. Closing the room wipes the queue — there's no notion of a hand persisted into a future class.
