Publish announcements to learners
Course-scoped or workspace-wide announcements that surface in the lesson player. Priority levels float urgent items to the top.
Compose at /dashboard/announcements. Pick a priority (low / normal / high / urgent), course scope (one course or all), and publish status. Students see published announcements at the top of the lesson canvas.
Where students see them
- Top of the main canvas in the lesson player (above the LiveClassesBanner).
- Empty-canvas state when no lesson is selected — including the course-complete screen.
- Dismissable per-browser. Once a student closes it, it stays closed for them on that device.
Priority styling
- Urgent — destructive (red) accent.
- High — accent (amber) treatment.
- Normal — primary (brand) tint.
- Low — muted card.
When to use which scope & priority
- Workspace-wide + urgent — a class is cancelled or a deadline moved; you want everyone to see it now.
- Course-scoped + high — a new module dropped or a live session was added for that course.
- Normal / low — tips, encouragement, or housekeeping that shouldn't shout.
Because announcements appear at the top of the lesson canvas (and on the empty/course-complete screens), they reach learners exactly where they study — far more reliably than an email that gets buried. Pair an unlock-day announcement with drip content to nudge cohorts along.
Common questions
- Can students dismiss them? Yes — dismissal is per-browser, so once closed it stays closed for that student on that device.
- Can I target one course? Yes — scope an announcement to a single course or to the whole workspace.
- Do urgent ones look different? Yes — priority drives the colour, from red (urgent) down to a muted card (low).
