Embed lessons, recordings, whiteboards & quizzes
Five typed embeds. Live references, not snapshots — when the source artifact changes, every doc embedding it shows the latest.
Last updated May 24, 2026
The five embeds
- Lesson — a card linking to any lesson in any course
- Recording — a past-class recording, optionally timestamped to a specific moment
- Whiteboard — a click-to-open preview of a canvas
- Quiz — a card pointing at a quiz from your bank
- Doc — cross-link to another doc (backlinks are automatic)
How to insert one
Type '/' to open the slash menu, then start typing the embed type ('lesson', 'recording'…) or scroll to the 'Embeds from your academy' group. Click one and we open a searchable picker across every embeddable artifact in your workspace — pick the one you want and the card lands in your doc at the cursor.
Why these are LIVE references
Every embed stores only an id, not a snapshot. If a recording gets new chapters, a quiz gets two more questions, or a whiteboard gets re-saved, every doc embedding it shows the latest — automatically. No copy-paste rot.
When the source disappears
Deleted artifacts don't crash the doc. The embed renders a graceful '⚠ this embed pointed to a recording that no longer exists' stub, so you know what's missing and can replace or remove it.
Backlinks come free
Every embed writes an edge in the universal ReferenceEdge table. Open any recording/whiteboard/quiz and the right rail's Links tab shows every doc referencing it — no tags to maintain, no manual cross-links.
