The honest verdict
The Big Class is the stronger Teachable alternative if you teach live or sell to Indian students. Teachable is a mature, US-first course platform — but live cohort classes need a third-party tool bolted on, and on its lower tiers it charges a per-transaction fee on top of the subscription. We ship live classes, a cohort community and a whiteboard built in, take payments natively in rupees via Razorpay and UPI with GST invoicing, and never take a per-sale cut on any plan — starting free and rising to ₹1,499/month. Teachable remains the better choice in one real case: if your audience is US/global, you bill in USD, and you want its long-established ecosystem of US-market integrations and payouts. When Teachable is the better choice
Pick Teachable if you sell primarily to a US or global audience in USD, you want its mature, long-established ecosystem of US-market integrations, payment processors and payout rails, and live teaching isn't central to your product. Teachable has years of polish on the self-paced-course experience for Western creators. If that's your situation, the India-first advantages here (UPI, GST, ₹ pricing) won't matter much to you — and we'd rather say so than oversell the switch.

How long does the Teachable → The Big Class migration take?
A weekend for most teams. Student CSV import takes 5 minutes; recreating 5-10 courses with their materials usually takes a Saturday.
Can I keep my current Teachable domain?
Yes. Drop your CNAME on /dashboard/portal/domain and we'll provision a fresh SSL certificate. Your old Teachable URL can redirect once you flip.
What about my paid students mid-cohort?
Add them as students in your new workspace (the CSV import dedupes by email). Their access carries forward; you can refund and reissue on the new platform if you want a clean ledger.
Do I lose my course completion data?
If you export progress from Teachable as a CSV before migrating, we can import it as a static reference. Forward-looking progress is tracked natively from day one.
What's the actual cost difference?
Depends on your sales volume. If you're processing ~$5,000/month on Teachable Basic with 5% transaction fees, that's $250/month skimmed. Our Studio plan is a fixed monthly cost regardless of sales volume.
